Our treatment programme using the latest Virtual Reality (VR) Therapy.
Service Description
1. What is this about? Virtual reality therapy (VRT), also known as virtual reality immersion therapy (VRIT), simulation for therapy (SFT), virtual reality exposure therapy (VRET), and computerized CBT (CCBT), is the use of virtual reality technology for psychological or occupational therapy and in affecting virtual rehabilitation. Patients receiving virtual reality therapy navigate through digitally created environments and complete specially designed tasks often tailored to treat a specific ailment. Technology can range from a simple PC and keyboard setup, to a modern virtual reality headset. It is widely used as an alternative form of exposure therapy, in which patients interact with harmless virtual representations of traumatic stimuli in order to reduce fear responses. We use VT therapy to treat anxiety, depression, psychosis and trauma in the context of bipolar disorder and depression and also the whole range of anxiety disorders that are usually present. This therapy is best delivered in the context of our day care and residential treatment programmes (dimiourgia.org) but it can easily be delivered online too. We use the latest treatment protocols from King's college London, Oxford university, and Stanford university. The minimum equipment required is an android smartphone.
